We decided to walk down to the columbia lake and to pick up sushi for dinner from sushi sono. By the time we got to the lake it was pretty crowded and the best spot we could get was on a steep portion of a hill. It wasn’t too bad for us since we were young. We ended up with this Indian family on our left who were kinda obnoxious. Not only did they get there barely before the fireworks started they squeezed into a space that wasn’t really a space and were half on our towels.

However once the fireworks started we forgot all about them and were really wowed by the fireworks. I haven’t been that up close to where they fire the fireworks in a long time. There were a lot of lower ones that we haven’t been able to see from our apartment for the past few years. We had a really good time and were glad we went down to see them and if we are still here next year we’d probably do it again.

Saved Spots

So many people were saving spots. Kind of annoying because they were empty for a long time. If you really want a spot you should be sitting there and not just leave a blanket.

Which can never be a good thing. While walking around in the meat section I saw that they had ahi steaks for sale. Now its been awhile since i’ve had seafood so was already craving seafood and ended up breaking down and buying the smalled ahi steak they had. Of course they intended for you to grill the thing or otherwise cook it but it looked pretty good and while hardly sushi grade I figured I could make some poke out of it. I decided to make some spicy ahi since i haven’t had that since i was home for the wedding. It came out pretty good, although I think my wasabi oil might have gone a little bad since i haven’t used it in a couple of years.
