After leaving the cabin on Sunday Nicole wanted to go to Luray Caverns which was only a few miles away. We got there pretty early so it hadn’t gotten crowded yet so we were able to go right in. When we first drove up to the place it didn’t look like much cause all you could see was a building on a gentle hill. But once we went down into the caverns it was pretty amazing to see all the different formations. We got quite a few good pictures with the new camera. I had a good time looking around since i’d never seen anything like it before. The caverns was in pretty good condition and well managed. We spent a couple of hours checking things out and listening to the tour before we headed back to dc.

This past weekend Nicole and I went on a fun weekend getaway to a cabin in western virginia. It had been a busy few months for us so we planned this mini vacation. We didn’t have any plans for the weekend except to just relax and read at the cabin. This place was similar to the one we went to last year except it’s location. It was ideal since it was less than two hours away so we didn’t have to drive that far and we left after work on friday. Overall we had a good time but I was reminded that I’m a city boy since the bugs got on my nerves. We enjoyed the use of the hot tub and had a good time just hanging out with just the two of us.

Down by the river… We didn’t last long out there since there were tons of bugs.
Wine and a book. A great way to spend the afternoon.

A few more pics from yesterday. We ended up just enjoying a lazy afternoon. Officially by the National Weather Service Ballston got 28″ of snow. The highlight of the afternoon was going out and getting a milkshake from big buns next to my office. Nicole thought I was crazy for wanting a milkshake in the middle of a blizzard but it sure hit the spot. Afterwards we wandered around the block to check out the snow. Surprisingly there were quite a few idiots who were out driving who most likely didn’t need to be out trying to drive on the icy roads.
A perfect lunch.
Ross jumping in the snow drift
Hmm the benches are getting kinda hard to sit in
Now that’s some deep snow
I fell down and now I can’t get up.
Score one milkshake in the middle of a blizard. Yay big buns

Some early pictures from snowmagedd0n of 2010. I’m going to guess we got about 20+ inches already and we still have a few more hours of snow. We definitely love living at the Meridian since we don’t have to shovel any of it and there are things near by. In fact this morning we went over to Harris Teeter to get some essentials like beer, guacamole and chips.
So much snow coming down we couldn’t even take a picture of ross
