June 29th, 2009Cellphone Pic
January 27th, 2009I have a nice surprise whenever I use my cell phone. When we were in hawaii for xmas I snapped a picture of nicole at the beach in her sparkly bikini that I love. I’ve set it as my background of my cellphone so everytime I go to make a call I get a sexy picture of nicole. Since I don’t use my cellphone that often i forget it’s there and it makes me smile every time I open it. It’s especially fun now that we’re back in hawaii since it’s freezing and there is snow outside.
Vacuum Cleaner
June 1st, 2008Today when I went to use my vacuum cleaner it was really noisy and smelled like it was smoking. Last week when I used it I thought it smelled like smoke, but wasn’t sure if it was the vacuum cleaner or the guy downstairs smoking on his balcony….guess it was the vacuum. Anyway, Ross helped me take it apart to see what might be wrong with it. The belt seemed okay, but the motor unit was sparking when it was running — not good!
I got my last vacuum cleaner as a hand-me down from my Grandma when I moved into our first apartment. I’m not sure how old it was when I got it , but it had seen many years of use. When it came time for new bags the only place I could find them on ebay – but it served us well. I think it may have been a professional grade vacuum cleaner for use in hotels etc. I was sad to see it go.
So, Ross and I went out today to get a new vacuum cleaner for me. I had remembered from last years consumer reports that a kenmore had gotten great ratings and was quite a bit cheaper than some of the other models. After reading review etc online, I decided to get the Kenmore Progessive upright vacuum with intelli-clean system. Turns out that it was also on sale this week – so we (or I) decided to go ahead and get it.
As soon as we got home I put together my new ‘toy’ and started to vacuum the apartment. It was great! It has a sensor that detects how much dirt it is picking up, and lets you know when a particular area was clean. I think it was pretty accurate as all the high traffic areas were showing more dirt than the lower traffic ones. Even right in front of the couch feels clean – which I never felt like I got very clean before. This vacuum is also much quieter than the last one which is an added bonus.
Attachments! One of the things that I was missing on the old vacuum was any sort of attachments. This one comes with a full range of attachments – crevice tool, combo brush, floor brush and a little handi-mate jr. The first thing I did with the attachments was vacuum the couch — it really needed it! Ross started making fun of me – wondering how long it would take me to attack the couch – in under 5 min =P
Anyway, I am very excited about my new toy!
Driving in the Rain
May 12th, 2008It’s amazing to me how many washington drivers will drive in the rain without turning on their headlights. I kinda feel like if you need to turn on your windshield wippers you really need to have your lights on too. Especially on the roads when you’re traveling fast enough to kick up a lot of spray the headlights make it much easier to spot the other cars on the road.
Of course it doesn’t help that there are a ton of cars on the road without working lights. I’ve seen so many cars with one headlight out. Or if thier headlights work its not uncommon to see people with broken brake lights. Break lights aren’t so useful when 2 of 3 lights are broken. It’s times like when I see people driving cars like this that makes me think hawaii has it right where they make you get a saftey inspection for your car every 2 years. It would stop people from driving around indefinetly with broken lights and broken god knows what else. We should have to waste the man hours of the cops with them pulling people over for broken lights. They have better things to do.
Driving To Work
March 6th, 2008So i’m driving to work this morning on the beltway. Far up ahead of me I see this black and white thing being towed by a truck. At first I assumed it was a boat being transported on the beltway since they are a pretty common occurrence. However as i get closer I realize that it can’t be a boat cause its too skinny and top portion is the same width as the bottom. I keep watching this thing as i get closer to the back of it.
Finally when i’m within a half dozen car lengths I realize what i’ve been looking at was the rear end of a giant cow. This cow was at least as tall as the semi’s next to it. At this point i had a good laugh since i’d been staring at a cow’s ass for the last few miles as i tried to figure out what it was. I guess Turkey Hill has some promotional cow complete with a turkey hill ice cream tub in front that they move around the country. It gave me a good laugh especially after fighting traffic on the first part of my drive. It always amazes me some of the things i’ve seen being transported while driving to work.
